Services

I specialise in capturing & coaching a cappella and acoustic performances in natural spaces. For adult singers and small groups through to large choirs looking to share a “best seat in the house” experience; from location recordings to concerts & livestreams; from a single, unobtrusive, high resolution audio recorder and a dedicated digital film camera, to multiple world-class stereo microphone setups.

I can advise on the acoustic suitability of your intended venue, and quartets and smaller are welcome to record in my studio in Essex. Quartets also have the option of recording in standard lineup or “in the round” using the Josephson C700S microphone. Beautifully balanced and “you are there” stereo and surround sound versions can be created from the same recorded audio, while you enjoy singing to each other or to an imagined audience as fits your mood, and the song.

Toolbox

Recordings are captured on a portable system by a select collection of world-class microphones from Josephson, DPA, Earthworks and Gefell, via archival-grade Metric Halo preamps and converters, backed up by high resolution Sony recorders.  Video is captured using Blackmagic cameras and switchers, and Sigma and DZOFilm lenses.

Mixed and mastered in Logic Pro and Davinci Resolve Studio using Metric Halo and dCS converters, ATC and Genelec monitoring, and plugins from Fabfilter, iZotope, Goodhertz and 2CAudio.

Edited & raw footage can be supplied in your preferred file formats, as well as all audio and video synced in a Resolve project file.

Studio

Studio recording (Essex) - £60/hour

- dedicated, air-conditioned, humidity-controlled studio
- world-class mics, preamps, converters
- all raw files supplied as standard
